Yeah I was thinking about Billy Bonds too.
An opposition player would take out our best and most creative player, be it Brooking, Dev or Chippy Brady having been told to target them.
Within 5-10 minutes the oppo player would be stretchered off after an 'awkward' challenge from big bad Bill.
A total enforcer and one of my all-time greats.

Bonzo - for the 100% beast he was in all respects, Some may have been bigger, faster, taller, stronger, but Bonzo was 100% commitment, 100% of the time.

Good shout about Harewood. I’m in my late thirties and he’s probably the next beastly I’ve seen after Antonio.
Never saw Hartson play as my family boycotted them for years after the bond scheme debacle

I remember Marlon Harewood single handed holding off 3 players at the end of one game when he was keeping the ball in the corner.

Cross if assumed the OP alluded to strikers, although Bonds would probably wipe the floor with all of them.

When it comes to powerful strikers if that's the real question, look no further than Clyde Best...

Only two of these actually went head on with their piers of the time and that's Bonzo & Hartson & Hartson didn't have half the competition Bonzo did.

My only excuse for omitting Bonds is that I was thinking about players who were predominantly hard men. Billy was of course much more. But I stand rightly admonished for my error but unlike Bonds I am only human!
